In Memorian: Joan Fontaine, 1917-2013

Em Rebecca, de Alfred Hitchcock, era a segunda mulher de Maxim de Winter, depois da célebre protagonista ausente que dá o nome ao filme. Joan Fontaine foi a única actriz, das muitas loiras de Hitchcock, que viu o trabalho premiado pela Academia de Hollywood - em 1941 - com Suspicion
Frágil, pálida, amedrontada, sedutora. Características que foram as suas armas artísticas, tal como Hitchcok percebeu, escolhendo-a para o início do seu periodo americano.
Fez 45 filmes para cinema, de 1935 a 1966, e foi protagonista de uma rivalidade histórica com a irmã, a também actriz Olivia de Havilland: "Casei-me antes de Olivia, ganhei o Oscar antes dela e, se morrer primeiro, ela ficará sem dúvida furiosa que eu a tenha batido". E bateu. Olivia de Havilland tem 97 anos e vive em Paris.
